Teddy's Story

From Homeless to Heaven in Malibu....

A year and a half ago, Linzi approached a homeless woman with a small Yorkie and offered her food for her dog. The woman declined but instead asked, "Can you take my dog? He's fifteen now and life of the road is too hard for him." After many tears and hugs, Linzi took Teddy and had him vet checked, a few teeth removed and groomed.

Teddy, being such a cutie, was adopted very quickly by Linzi's close friends Lisa and Ron. Teddy now has a great life with them in Malibu! Lisa threw Teddy a big Sweet Sixteen Birthday party last year with his daily playdate group of other pampered dogs in their neighborhood. Teddy still loves to walk and walk and walk, from his many years on the road. Now seventeen, Teddy is still frisky. He is love and well cared for by his doting owners. In case you were wondering, Lorna, his original human companion, took our phone number and knows how happy he is, too!

Carmine's Story

CARMINE was saved with the help of THE FORGOTTEN DOG FOUNDATION... and a few Angels!!!

The plea on October 4th, 2010 from Tomika Johnston, New Hope Coordinator at the South Los Angeles Animal Care Center, was heart-wrenching.

“Carmine came into the shelter on 9/23 (Neutered and Chipped) a Possible Owner.  Phone calls were made and a letter sent but no owner came for Carmine and he needs out! He came to us weak in the hind quarters, favoring his left leg, mild dental tartar, flea infested, with and an area of alopecia that was already starting to fill in.   X-Rays show a displaced fracture of the left proximal femur, an injury that will require surgical repair according to medical. Carmine is a friendly little dog that is well liked in the shelter.  Please pull, cross post, or network him so we can save him.  He is available as of today so the clock starts ticking now.”

Emails were sent out but everyone was full. No one stepped forward…and the clock kept ticking until Carmine had less than a day to live. Our foundation put out an urgent request for a foster and an angel by the name of Darlene said she would foster! So we saved him…at the eleventh hour. Dr. Adams at California Animal Hospital said it was best to amputate his leg. The damage was just too great. With the help of sweet Cassandra and Chris Hogan of The Hogan Foundation, Carmine’s vet bills were paid and Darlene came in from Oxnard to take him to his new foster home…that is now his permanent one! Darlene and her husband adore their new three legged boy who fits in just great with their other little dogs. He sleeps on their bed and is loved as all dogs should be. And oh how well he walks, with head held high on his three legs. And so, it might be said, that Carmine has a far better life as a three legged dog than he ever did on four!

Taz’s Story

Once I was a forgotten dog... scared and hungry and abandoned on the mean streets of downtown Los Angeles...and I was only nine-months-old. But then I was rescue by a lady named Linzi who took me to her home and cared for me until she found me a forever home with Renee and Dave and my doggie brother Sky.

Now I have a great life in Big Bear and Las Vegas! I get to play in the snow and swim in the lake and ride on a boat and fly in a plane. I get good food and lots of time to play like all dogs should.

Now I am a loved dog... a happy dog... a dog that will never be forgotten again.
